Not that it has a particularly attractive design, but the El-E cyber helper developed by engineers at the Center for Healthcare Robotics at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, in the US, is unrivaled at finding things and taking them here and there. Simply mark an object with a laser pointer and the robot instantly locates it, grabs it with its articulated arm and places it where it is pointed out.
The device, which is equipped with an omnidirectional camera and various pressure and motion sensors, can dodge furniture and recognize users’ faces.
