The ecological yellow submarine

scubster A group of French engineers has created the Scubster , a single-seater submarine that works like a bicycle, with twin propellers that are connected to pedals . The vehicle is 3.5 meters long and is made entirely of carbon fiber, which makes it quite light. It can reach a speed of 8 kilometers per hour when its pilot is in good shape, and it dives up to 20 feet deep. The cabin is totally airtight, and the user breathes with a mask and an oxygen bottle.

For now, the creators of Scubster have already managed to stay with him for an hour underwater in the Mediterranean Sea, off the Côte d’Azur. Its creators hope to participate with this original ecological submarine in the next International Submarine Race to be held in June 2011 in the United States.
