What is DuckDuckGo Email Protection?

DuckDuckGo, the search engine that is known for privacy protection in its browsers, has just announced a new tool in its applications to protect the privacy of your emails, called Email Protection.

This is a free service that seeks to eliminate email scammers and protect your privacy, without the need to change your email service or applications. “We believe that protecting your personal information from being leaked to third parties should be a simple task without leaving a trace” mentions the

How does DuckDuckGo Email protection work?

First, you have to create your new email(). However, it does not mean that you now have to use this email. Rather, through the app, you enter the data of your usual email (hotmail, gmail, yahoo, among others) and they will be resent once the tracers are eliminated.

What happens is that the platform removes hidden trackers from incoming emails and then sends them to your regular inbox for safer reading.

In its , DuckDuckGo ensures that they do not save your emails and that the only personal information they store about you are the two email addresses.

They also highlight that they do not use your personal information for any purpose and that they do not use third-party services.

This feature is still in beta. In order to access the waiting list, simply download the DuckDuckGo app to access the waiting list.
