This is what the asteroid Bennu looks like up close

What we see in this spectacular NASA image is a very detailed view of the asteroid Bennu. The US space agency has created a mosaic of images collected by NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft. In total, 345 PolyCam images have been used to create this fantastic mosaic, which shows the asteroid located about 300,000 kilometers away from our planet, at 4 millimeters per pixel at full size.

The images were taken as the spacecraft made a 250-meter reconnaissance pass over the Nightingale site, which is but the main collection site for samples of the asteroid on the ORIRIS-REx mission , which is scheduled to make its first attempt at sample collection on October 20, 2020. The probe arrived at the asteroid on December 3, 2018.

As an example, the large dark rock located in the upper right is 13 meters on its longest axis.
