Solid TV entertainment, but sometimes confused: audience favorite Anna Loos determined in the second again as an LKA officer.
Hamburg – The case begins with the suicide of a colleague: Commissioner Helen Dorn has to watch as an officer points his weapon at himself during an operation. Then a medical student dies and shortly afterwards a doctor is kidnapped.
There had been inconsistencies on his station. Helen Dorn’s 15th case is not only confused, it also confronts the heroine with her own past. The episode with the subtitle “The Last Rescue” can be seen on Saturday at 8:15 pm on ZDF.
Since 2014 Anna Loos has been slipping into the role of the LKA commissioner, who recently moved from Düsseldorf to Hamburg. The idiosyncratic Helen Dorn belongs to the category of eccentric, socially incompatible investigators in the German crime scene. That goes down well with the audience. In March of this year, almost eight million viewers saw their previous case “Who sows violence”.
Cool, direct, gruff – this is how Dorn appears to her colleagues. She thinks, as she says herself, a “freak” anyway. Dorn flirts with her difficult manner. And that is sometimes exhausting not only for her team at the LKA, but also for the audience.
Dorn’s only confidante is her father (Ernst Stötzner). She tells the retired police officer about stressful experiences. This time she is reminded of her mother’s death in a cancer ward. The solution to the mysterious case also seems to lie on that very station.
So back to the new case: The young murdered woman had worked as a self-employed escort lady in addition to her medical degree. The partner quickly becomes the target of the investigators. But then the senior doctor of the oncology ward is kidnapped and it is soon no longer clear who is the victim and who is the perpetrator.
An attentive taxi driver provides valuable information. A young, desperate doctor pours out her heart to Helen Dorn. Now the Commissioner’s instinct is required.
The many pieces of the puzzle are slowly and routinely put together by director Friedemann Fromm and screenwriter Mathias Schnelting, so that the riddle is solved for the inspector – and for the audience. And maybe at some point Helen Dorn will be able to investigate a little less doggedly and crankily. dpa
