Uranus, father of the Titans

Its characteristic bluish-green color is due to the methane clouds that move across the planet's surface, since temperatures can reach -200 ºC. Its atmosphere is composed mainly of helium and hydrogen.

It was discovered by the astronomer William Herschel in 1781 . In fact, it is the first known planet not previously recorded by any ancient civilization.

The planet was hit by a large object, possibly the size of our planet Earth, which caused it to acquire an extreme inclination and to present interesting variations in the seasons. Winter brings 21 years of darkness and summer 21 years of sunlight. Dramatic, right?

As if this were not enough, Uranus has a total of 27 satellites , five of them considered larger, all of them named after characters from William Shakespeare. It also has a relatively young 13-ring system, quite faint and dark, made up of dust and large particles.

No spacecraft has carried out major orbital operations on Uranus.
