War in Ukraine: boy flees alone to Slovakia – with only a plastic bag

Minors are also fleeing the Ukraine war. An eleven-year-old boy who crossed the border all by himself has now arrived in Slovakia.

Bratislava – An eleven-year-old boy fled to Slovakia all alone because of the Ukraine conflict*. He was only equipped with a plastic bag, his passport and a telephone number that had been written on his hand. Volunteers received the boy and contacted his relatives in Slovakia. They would have picked him up in the meantime and taken him to the capital, Bratislava.

Slovakian police said on Facebook that the 11-year-old “won everyone’s heart with his smile, fearlessness and determination worthy of a true hero.”

War in Ukraine: Unaccompanied minor refugees also arrive in Germany

Slovakian police spokeswoman Denisa Bardyova told the AFP news agency on Sunday (March 6, 2022): “He came from Zaporizhia, his parents had to stay in Ukraine.” Because his father, like all men of military age, is not allowed to leave Ukraine because of the war and his mother, whose own disabled mother is caring for, the family had put the boy on a train on Saturday (03/05/2022). She thanked the Slovakian volunteers for their “big heart” via a Facebook post in a video clip.

Unaccompanied minors fleeing the war in Ukraine keep arriving in Germany – about a whole bus a few days ago. According to BR, the youth welfare office took care of the children. Aid workers in Berlin are currently expanding capacities for unaccompanied children fleeing, as reported by RBB.

Ukraine war in Zaporizhia: Russia seizes nuclear power plant

The Russian army has been occupying the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant since Friday. The night before, troops had fired on the nuclear power plant. According to Ukrainian information, this caused a fire in the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which could, however, be extinguished. The reactor blocks were not affected by the fire and appear to be intact.

The Ukrainian authorities asked the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for immediate assistance. This stated that two security forces at the nuclear power plant had been injured. According to the state-owned Ukrainian operating company Energoatom, three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and two injured. Moscow denies the shelling and blames Ukrainian “saboteurs”. In the West, on the other hand, the question is growing as to how far Putin will go in the Ukraine war. (tk with AFP) *hna.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
