The soldiers took snapshots of the phenomenon that appeared in the sky and that later turned out to be the product of the launch from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida of a SpaceX rocket loaded with Starlinks devices (satellites) that were to be placed in orbit Low Earth low like the rest of the company’s satellites.
It is not the first time this happens. Several times this year, a SpaceX rocket launch has left observers thinking they were seeing something out of the ordinary.
The gas columns, which in this case have taken the form of an airship, are therefore attributed to the Starlink satellites launched by the space company SpaceX, with which Elon Musk intends to offer broadband and low-latency internet. to the entire planet.
Musk’s Starlink company, which has already put more than 3,000 satellites into Earth orbit (and hopes to have 30,000) was one of the first to launch this technology, but it has been followed by many others such as Hughest Net or Viasa, which are in the development phase. growth, but they already have a presence in countries such as the United States, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, France or the United Kingdom.
One of Musk’s rivals, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, also plans to launch a constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites to offer broadband access to remote areas, as part of his Project Kuiper.
