The manufacturer of sports cameras GoPro has just presented its first drone, which it has baptized with the name of Karma and which integrates a whole recording system with which you can capture aerial shots of your favorite outdoor activities . In addition, its ultra-compact design, which folds and can even be stored in a backpack, makes it very light and allows you to travel with it anywhere.
The device is a quadcopter –with four rotors for its support and propulsion– intended for both novice and expert users , and it has a controller that will allow us to operate with it remotely and in a very simple way. In fact, Nick Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro, explains that Karma “is so easy to use that even a beginner can immediately have fun” with it. In any case, this controller has a flight simulator with which the most inexperienced will take their first steps as pilots before using the drone in real life.
The controller’s screen is 5-inch touchscreen, and incorporates two joysticks that allow you to direct the flight of the drone , which is compatible with the two new GoPro cameras – Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session – and also with the Hero 4 Black and Silver.
It can reach a speed of 56 km / h , climb up to a height of 4,500 meters – although it must be taken into account that it is controlled at a maximum distance of 1,000 meters – and its rechargeable battery offers a flight autonomy of up to 20 minutes. It also has an app, GoPro Passenger, which will allow your friends to follow your adventures in the air on their respective smartphones.
The basic kit includes, among other things, the flight controller, the battery, the charger, six spare propellers, the carrying case and an Image Stabilizer that can be disassembled for use with the Karma Grip, a handgrip or a cane that will serve you to record videos without vibrations and that you can use in hand – while you walk, skate, jump or even run – or installed in the drone.
An interesting feature of Karma, which will go on sale on October 23 and will be available at a recommended price of 869.99 euros (the pack without GoPro camera), is that it offers its user four pre-programmed trajectories in order to perform, automatically, cinematic quality shots . Thus, for example, with the orbit mode, the drone rotates around a precise point where it maintains the crosshairs.
