A 100% underwater, modular drone with camera included

Fathom One is a 100% underwater drone and, as such, it will allow you to explore underwater and capture high definition images through its Full HD camera . It is very easy to pilot and transport, and it also has a very practical modular design.

The creators of this unmanned vehicle define themselves as a group of outdoor enthusiasts, divers, filmmakers and tech experts who are passionate about underwater exploration. To share that passion with the rest of the world, they have developed the Fathom One, which is priced at $ 599 (about 536 euros) , “less than half the price of its closest competitor,” they say.

The drone has three thrusters: two on the sides and one on the rear, although, as it is modular, additional thrust modules can be ordered. In fact, the company that markets it intends to launch a full line of propellants and accessories .

It can sail for an hour on a single charge, its speed can reach 1.5 meters per second, it has a 1080p HD camera on board, and its maximum operating depth is almost 46 meters .

The Fathom One must be connected to a floating buoy through a cable that allows piloting either through an application -from your smartphone or tablet- or with an optional physical controller. In addition, this cable allows you to very easily retrieve the device in case of any kind of problem underwater. Its developers explain that one of the best things about using the Fathom One is sharing what you have seen with all your friends on social networks.

We will still have to wait a bit to see it on the market, since it is a project that is in search of financing on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter , but if they finally manage to raise the necessary capital – and everything indicates that it will Since, with 23 days remaining until the deadline, they have already obtained 141,000 of the 150,000 dollars they needed – the drones will begin to reach their buyers from June 2017.
