French police put an end to a macro-party of 400 people in Dijon

More than 400 people participated Saturday night in a macro-party near Dijon, a city in central-eastern France, which gendarmes ended overnight by detaining the suspected organizer, authorities said Sunday. It took place in a disused hangar in a small municipality about 10 km from Dijon. The prefect of the region, Fabien Sudry, condemned the celebration of “this totally irresponsible event in the context of the country's health situation.” This macro-party took place one day after a “rave” – a massive clandestine party – in the region of Brittany (north-western France) that gathered 500 people, before the security forces intervened. On Saturday night, in Paris, there was an attempted "rave" in a neighborhood in the east of the city. Three people were arrested. All bars, restaurants, terraces and non-essential shops have been closed in France since the end of October, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Currently there is a curfew from 7:00 p.m. French President Emmanuel Macron announced this week a gradual and partial opening of these stores from mid-May.
