The group from Aranjuez had two presentations at the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán theater in which memories of life before the pandemic were evoked, but especially of the unemployment and the abuse of force that has been experienced in the streets.
After several attempts, the Alcolirykoz concert in Bogotá finally happened. In two presentations, with fully sold out box office, the Medellín group achieved the unthinkable in a long time: performing two concerts at the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán theater, to which there was limited access due to the conditions of the third peak of the pandemic.
It had already been rescheduled twice, but the presentation could not come at the best time, as the band also came with a strong message about the strike and what is being experienced in the country, both in the framework of the demonstrations and as a consequence. of the armed conflict in recent years and for which they decided to postpone the release of their seventh album “Aranjuez”.
For two minutes, 483 people in the @TeatroJEG with their fists raised, we read the numbers of disappeared, raped, dead, executed. We read how the peace agreement has been breached. Thanks to @AlcolirykoZ for always resisting. pic.twitter.com/sQXCfhc6gU

One of the most significant things was two minutes in which the attendees raised their arms around a projected message that not only accounted for the 117,307 civilians who were victims of the war, among which is the murder of social leaders and former members of the Farc after the signing of peace, but also of the 6,402 false positives, the 76 massacres registered in 2020, as well as the 52 dead and 489 injured that, according to human rights organizations, were registered in the first 13 days of the strike.
The rest was music, which was combined with the harangues of the strike and the messages that Gambeta, Kaztro and Fazeta gave between songs: “here the important thing is how to value art that resists, art with conscience and commitment. That when a verguero like the one we are in is built, we realize what was really important, that education and art are not ornamental, but it is the last thing they take into account. We have come a long way, there are small changes, but the most important is the mentality of the people, even the most pelaitos already understand what is happening ”.
The concert began with “Pambelé”, which in addition to being one of his greatest successes was recently cited by the RAE in the clarification of a spelling doubt. These were followed by others such as “Fruko y sus prisoners”, “Comediantes del velorio” and “Sancocho de leña”, which also accompanied a remix with songs that they no longer play and stand out from their repertoire.
These were joined by “Aranjuez”, which will be on their last album and which they had not been able to play live; “Caza de Nariño”, which they presented recently and in which they talk about the idiosyncrasy of the country and the inequalities around them. Lastly, there was “Tararea” and “The Hall of Injustice”, which has resounded these days by the phrase of Jaime Garzón that is in his intro: “If you young people do not assume the direction of your own country, nobody is going to come save him. No one!”.
Prints vary. Undoubtedly, in the midst of so much uncertainty due to a pandemic, talking about a massive concert is complicated again, but without a doubt, despite the reduced capacity, the energy was alive, not only because of the songs but also because of the meaning that was given to it. event, in which it was shown that music also resists and if you want it can generate social awareness.
