Every day we are discovering new data related to the coronavirus. Now it seems that natural immunity against Covid-19 could be forever. This is stated in a study by the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, in the United States. Why? This study, published by the journal Nature, reveals that those who have already passed Covid-19 in a mild way could have protection that would last a lifetime. According to agencies, the researchers of this study have commented that antibody-producing cells have been found in people 11 months after the first symptoms and will also produce antibodies for the rest of their lives. In order to analyze all this, the researchers obtained bone marrow of 19 people who had been infected by mild Covid-19. Some provided a second bone marrow sample. The scientists also obtained bone marrow from 11 people who had not had this disease. After studying the samples, they concluded that a total of 15 of the 19 bone marrow samples from people who had already had Covid-19 had antibody-producing cells. that were targeting the virus that causes this type of coronavirus. In addition, the levels of antibodies in the blood of those who had passed Covid-19 were maintained over time, with some antibodies 11 months after infection. There is more data on this It is believed that asymptomatic patients who are also infected with Covid-19 may also have this immunity for life.In any case, the researchers have announced that it is necessary to carry out the study in those people with moderate to severe infections to know if they are also protected for time or forever from reinfection. It should also be clarified that this study has a small sample of participants, over 80 participants, and as we have specified, there would not be a natural immunity forever in all people who have been infected, since it is important to study the most serious ones. This, there is probability, but it cannot be said that the natural immunity against mild Covid-19 could be totally and safely forever. What is clear is that there is still to know and is that after a year there are many studies that are still being carried out to find out more about this disease.
