The Andalusian authorities do not stop saying: “This is not over and we must not relax.” Córdoba , in fact, is a good example of this. And young people are the most affected. As announced this Wednesday by its mayor, José María Bellido , the population between 15 and 29 years old accumulates a Covid incidence rate of 549 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
According to the councilor to journalists, this situation “is causing the general rate in the city and also in the province to rise very high, along with other municipalities where it is also very high.” In the capital, the incidence this Tuesday was 256 cases , so that it reaches the extreme risk of contagion.
Meanwhile, the province has added 244 new cases of Covid-19 this Tuesday, thus exceeding the figures registered in the last six days, which have remained below 200 cases, and also standing above the peak of new positives in coronavirus that occurred a week ago, out of 230 cases.
Thus, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía , Córdoba has positioned itself this Tuesday as the second Andalusian province, after Seville, which has registered 427 new cases, which has accumulated a greater number of new positives. in Covid-19, with the aforementioned 244, which makes the total number of coronavirus cases in the province since the start of the pandemic is 54,119.
Meanwhile, the councilor has insisted that ” it is no longer time to go back in measures , because it is time to advance in vaccination and in getting out of this situation”, although he has asked “to do it with absolute head, with great responsibility and common sense ».
In this regard, he stressed that “the vaccination figures are going at a fantastic rate” , so that “people under 40 years of age are already being vaccinated in the city and with that objective of reaching the month of August with practically all that population vaccinated, almost with the complete pattern, because in the rhythms that go there would be time with the margins that exist between the first and the second vaccination ”, as he has argued.
In any case, Bellido stressed that ” the virus has not gone away , but is still there, and even vaccinated people can transmit it, because what the vaccine does is make the disease not serious, that the consequences of being infected are minors of serious diseases.
Celebrations
In addition, the mayor has said that “where a greater number of sources of contagion is also being detected is in private celebrations, of any kind, family, private, weddings, baptisms and communions .”
In view of this, he demanded “to try together to make a last collective effort to culminate this month and a half that remains so that vaccination reaches a very important point, where the target population is practically vaccinated, and that no steps are taken back because that is always there.
And it is that, as the mayor has warned, “ a step back now , especially for some sectors that are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, such as tourism and hospitality, would be dramatic , not only because of the economic consequences, but also even the moral ones for them ».
Likewise, he insisted that “anyone can be infected and have a serious disease” , since “this is not a simple flu or cold”, while not considering taking “additional measures for now, because the indexes combine many more factors, such as vaccination, number of hospital beds and ICUs ”.
In this way, the councilor has indicated that “in the set of factors it is not necessary to be alarmist and it is not necessary to take measures”, but he has asked “good sense to all.”
