A start-up develops an inexpensive flying vehicle that 'anyone can own and fly'

Swedish startup eVTOL Jetson has officially unveiled its Jetson ONE personal electric aerial vehicle. After a successful prototype in 2018, the company has created a consumer version of the ONE eVTOL that has already sold out its limited production by 2022 and is now taking orders for 2023.

Founded by Peter Ternstrom and Tomasz Patan in 2017, Jetson specializes in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles . With its latest announcement, Jetson hopes to bring its new ONE personal electric aerial vehicle to customers in 2022.

The all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft launched this month, three years after the firm launched a proof-of-concept prototype in 2018.

‘Our mission is to make flight available to everyone. The Jetson One is an electric helicopter that you can buy and fly yourself. We intend to turn everyone into a driver, ” said Jetson co-founder Peter Ternstrom.

The foldable, single-seat helicopter can approach 100 kilometers per hour thanks to its lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber frame and 118 hp engine. Weighing 86kg, the Jetson ONE is also foldable to 90cm wide when not in use . It consists of an all-aluminum aircraft frame chassis that houses a high-discharge lithium-ion battery capable of a maximum power of 88 kW.

The vehicle measures 112 x 95 x 41 inches and has support arms that are designed to fold in on themselves, leaving a profile ‘on the ground’, similar to a touring motorcycle.

The Jetson ONE is built around a rigid aluminum space frame with eight powerful electric motors. It uses composite carbon fiber and state-of-the-art 3D printed components, making for an extremely lightweight design. It is also equipped with many safety features, including a redundant propulsion system and a ballistic parachute.

The first to acquire the device will be able to fly for 20 minutes at a maximum speed of 102 km. Currently, the maximum speed of the ONE is limited by computer.

The flying vehicle is named after The Jetsons or The Jetsons, a fictional ‘future family’ created in the early 1960s by Hanna-Barbera Productions, which included UFO-like flying cars.

It is an octocopter with four arms that extend from the fuselage, each of which contains a pair of rotors, which produces lift. How do you drive? With a throttle lever, a joystick and a pedal, and it comes with an on-board computer that keeps it stable during flight and keeps an eye on obstacles on the ground.

The onboard system is capable of floating and gently lowering to the ground if the pilot takes their hands off the controls, but there is also a ballistic parachute if it runs out of power or the engine fails.

Production of the 2022 Jetson ONE vehicles is scheduled to begin next summer , with deliveries to be made during the fall.

This is how the light bulb was invented

History tells us that the famous inventor Thomas Alva Edison was the inventor of the light bulb, which is not true. Many searched for it and quite a few got it, but Edison was the one who turned that invention into a money-making machine.
