The incident in Ingolstadt took place in the Unsernherrn branch of the Ingolstadt vaccination center. People who were vaccinated there with Biontech on the days concerned would be contacted, as the city announced. When removing the vaccine from the refrigerator, employees had overlooked the note about the expiry date.

The medical management of the vaccination center emphasized that the vaccinations were harmless to health. With regard to the effectiveness of the vaccine, previous experience suggests that despite the short-term expiry of the vaccine, there is vaccination protection. To check, however, those affected are offered a free blood test to determine the antibodies and, if necessary, re-vaccinated.
