Alsea will invest 4,800 million pesos in 2022

Alsea puts the accelerator to the openings. The company presented its plan for 2022-2026, in which it considers an aggressive expansion for the Starbucks and Domino's Pizza brands, which are the ones that have managed to recover the most from the crisis that COVID-19 caused in the restaurant industry.

Fernando González Somoza, CEO of Alsea, explained that for this year the company will make an investment of 4,800 million pesos to open between 220 and 260 restaurants, of which between 170 and 200 will be corporate units and between 50 and 60 franchisees. The amount of investment is the highest of the company since 2017, when it had a capex of 4,882 million pesos.

Of the resources, 45.1% will be invested in the Mexican market, 37.2% in the European markets where it operates, and 17.7% in South America. González Somoza explained that 57.7% of the investment is for the opening of restaurants, 26.3% for maintenance, 10.5% in technology and 5.5% for other items.

“We want to continue our organic growth and do it in a profitable and sustainable way, growing through our same store sales between 15 and 19% in comparison. We have the capabilities for a sustainable and disruptive proposal, conditioned by the post-pandemic situation that we are experiencing," said the manager.
