A team of researchers from the University of Granada has created a system that, in case of forgetfulness , reminds elderly people or people with special needs of certain daily tasks, such as taking the keys before leaving home or taking certain pills at the time of go to bed.
The system recognizes the daily actions of users through radio frequency identification (RFID) tags attached to objects that individuals handle most often, in such a way that when they touch them a signal is sent to a computer or mobile device located on the own home or in a remote assistance center.
In the prototype of this “anti-forgetting technology” , the activities of each user are evaluated with Artificial Intelligence techniques that allow them to relate and remember actions such as taking the keys or the mobile phone before leaving home. “It is not necessary to use cameras or microphones, and the devices used do not present any technological complication for the user, nor do they modify their daily routine,” explains María Ros Izquierdo, co-author of a study published this month in the specialized journal Expert Systems with Applications .
