Contrary to Instagram where we pose and put together our photo so that our followers can see the moment we are enjoying, in BeReal the user cannot share content when they want, but when the application tells them to , generating spontaneous photos.

What is BeReal?
BeReal is an application to share photos once a day at a random time.
It launched in late 2019, but its popularity began to explode in mid-2022. It is currently the most popular and has been installed approximately 29.5 million times.
How does BeReal work?
The app sends a push notification: ‘BeReal Time’ to all users at a random time each day. Users in the same time zone receive the alert simultaneously. They then have two minutes to take a photo and share it with their followers.
The platform uses the front and rear cameras to take a selfie along with what is being done, at the same time. The service does not have photo editing.
Users can retake photos within the two-minute window, but your followers will know if you do so (and how many times).
Once posted, you can browse your friends’ photos and see what they’re up to. Unlike any other social platform, there is no option to simply like other photos: if you want to participate in a post, you have to take a reaction selfie or write a comment.
How to start using BeReal
1. Create an account
BeReal is available for both users, so download the app first. To create an account, you will need to enter your phone number, full name, date of birth, and username.
2. Connect with your friends
Once you’ve created an account and signed in, you can sync your contacts to find friends in the app.
3. Take your primer BeReal
BeReal will ask you to take a photo right after you create an account. Click the notification and take your first photo in two minutes.
4. Add a caption and share your photo
After adding a caption, you can choose whether to share your photo with everyone or just friends.
Click Submit to post!
5. Start exploring
Once you’ve shared your first BeReal, you can explore other photos in the discover section. You can react to posts with selfies using the emoji at the bottom left.
