Car sales fall again in April

Car sales fell again in April, after accelerating in March, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

In April, 83,459 units were sold in the Mexican domestic market, a lower level of sales than that registered in the same month of 2021, when 84,287 light vehicles were sold.

In March, car sales reached 95,199 units, the best number of the year and the second best in the last 14 months. But in April they fell again.

With these results, so far this year, 336,841 units have been sold in Mexico. Which is less than the 345,126 cars that were sold in the same period January-April 2021.

In 2019, when the automotive industry had not yet been affected by the pandemic or the supply chain crisis, 431,418 cars were sold in the first four months of the year. Therefore, it can be said that sales are still 22% below pre-COVID levels.
