"Close shot": Lars Eidinger in services of the Stasi

A person becomes entangled in the Stasi's spider web. Disturbing drama based on real events.

Berlin – Around 40 years ago, the last death penalty was carried out in the GDR. The victim was Werner Teske, a 39-year-old financial economist convicted of espionage. The drama “Close Shot” deals with his fate.

Lars Eidinger plays the newly graduated Franz Walter, who has high hopes for his future. But the GDR State Security Service has other plans. He is supposed to spy on a footballer who has fled to the Federal Republic of Germany. In this way, Franz becomes part of a system of injustice that governs with arbitrariness, violence and the most perfidious means. A fact that drives the young man into despair and also strains his relationship with Corina (Luise Heyer) to the utmost.
