Consuming local is a trend that helps to reactivate the economy

Interestingly, the increase in local consumption in various industries is a fact that has been driven by the pandemic to counteract the effects of it. The Mexican restaurant sector is a clear example of resilience, as it has demonstrated during 2020 and this year it is working to achieve a successful reactivation.

Today is the perfect time for you to visit your favorite restaurant, the staff and business owners need you to go to consume or order at home. The objective is to reactivate the local economy.

In the most recent episode of Grupo Expansión’s podcast, Mujeduría, which is titled the CEO of Expansión Publishing, Blanca Juana Gómez Morera, spoke with the Mexican restaurant and chef about the great challenges that the restaurant sector has faced.

As a restaurant owner, who is also participating in Shop Small, Lula commented: “I have always believed that this awareness of financial institutions that care about their customers and establishments is exactly what we need. Those alliances and those opportunities to be able to emerge afloat ”.

“They are really giving us the opportunity to enroll our businesses in this for the benefit of our customers, but, of course, also for the benefit of the establishment; it is a win win ”, affirmed the Mexican chef.

Blanca Juana assured that Mexicans are socially greedy, “in a pandemic we lock ourselves up and started cooking and ordering food, to support our spoiled restaurants.” Additionally, the directive explained that her experience regarding the issue of comfort food was that she was sad or anxious and her consolation was to ask for a delicious meal, to order at her favorite restaurants to enjoy the food.

Shop Small is for everyone, both for Cardholders and for local businesses that accept payments with American Express, anyone who signs up can aspire to have the benefits that the institution offers. The main objective is to consume local and allow the development of SMEs.

Finally, during the episode, chef Lula said that her restaurant Marea –which she herself calls sea and corn–, located in the Roma Norte neighborhood, offers dishes that include shrimp, octopus, quesadillas, among others. Of course, it belongs to participating Shop Small stores.
