Corona in Bavaria: Short-term Whitsun vacation? Reservations still "possible"

The corona numbers for Bavaria continue to improve. Spontaneous people can even take a Whitsun vacation in the Free State. All the news in the Bayern ticker.

  • On Thursday, the vaccine * prioritization in general practitioners’ practices was lifted (see first report).
  • The incidence in Bavaria has fallen further, but further opening steps have to be postponed for Munich (see update from May 21, 8:06 a.m.).
  • In Bavaria, hotels, holiday apartments and pensions are about to open ( see update from May 21, 5.46 p.m. ).

Update from May 21, 5.46 p.m .: Just in time for the weekend of Pentecost, there is the long-awaited ray of hope for hotels, guest houses and holiday apartments in Bavaria. After they were closed for months due to the corona pandemic, they are now allowed to reopen – provided that the seven-day incidence in the respective cities and districts is stable below 100. This step should also be interesting for spontaneous vacationers.

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) and Angela Inselkammer, President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), found out about the situation in accommodation establishments in Bad Aibling in Upper Bavaria on Friday. Economy Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) met the operator of the Eckbauerbahn in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Nothing stands in the way of a safe and carefree holiday in Bavaria, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Aiwanger called the tourism industry in Bavaria a considerable economic factor that is particularly important in rural areas. In total there are around 44,000 catering businesses in the Free State. Before Corona, tourists would have spent 33 billion euros per year in Bavaria. This means that a fifth of Germany’s tourism added value is generated in Bavaria. According to this, 600,000 people in Bavaria live from tourism.

Spontaneous guests can, for example, reserve accommodations for the Whitsun holidays in the Allgäu. “That is possible,” a spokeswoman for Allgäu GmbH said on Friday. “The best way to do this is to look at the portals of the respective vacation spots.” In general: “The smaller the establishment, the greater the probability that it is open.”

Corona in Bavaria: Munich incidence again above the limit

Update from May 21, 8:06 a.m.: As of today, new corona rules * apply in the Free State – the incidence is still decisive. It looked really good in Munich for a long time, which is why the night curfew fell on May 11th, and contact restrictions were also relaxed. Outdoor catering has also been allowed to reopen since May 12th. Most recently, the value in Munich was even below the 50 mark for the second day in a row.

But after the incidence on Thursday was 47.6 according to RKI information, it was 51.5 on Friday. This means that the “calculation” in the state capital starts all over again. As with the other limit values, the same applies to the 50: The value must be fallen below for five consecutive days, one day after the city then issues the new regulations before they take effect another day. So the next easing step in Munich would – theoretically – only be possible on Friday, May 28th. *

Corona numbers in Bavaria: incidence continued to fall

Update from May 21, 6:02 a.m .: There are still good corona numbers for Bavaria to report. The incidence in the Free State has fallen to 66.9 (previous day: 68.8). According to the RKI, Munich had a value of 51.5 on Friday morning. The day before, the value in the state capital was 47.6. It has increased slightly, but other cities and districts in Bavaria are problem children.

Memmingen has the highest incidence in Bavaria. With 235.8, the city ranks second in Germany. The city of Schweinfurt (164.7) is in fourth place, the district of Günzburg (155.9) in eighth place.

Today, Friday, new easing came into force in the Free State – you can read which rules now apply in our overview. *

Update from May 20, 9:08 p.m.: In the Munich vaccination center, the vaccine deliveries are currently so tight that now mainly second vaccinations are carried out and the initial immunization of citizens threatens to stall. The state capital is stuck in a vaccination jam. 130,000 people in priority group 3 are still on the waiting list for the Riem vaccination center. 50,000 syringes against the corona virus * could be used there per week. Currently, however, there are only around 31,000, because the targeted delivery volume falls short of expectations.

Wolfgang Schäuble, head of the city’s crisis team, announced these figures to the city council on Thursday. Schäuble, Munich’s full-time fire chief, criticized an “announcement policy” that aroused covetousness among the citizens that could not be fulfilled. This triggers immense pressure on the vaccination centers and general practitioners. Health officer Beatrix Zurek (SPD) warned urgently against giving up prioritization at the vaccination centers. Otherwise huge organizational problems threatened. “We will not be able to cope with the onslaught.”

Corona in Bavaria: first vaccination comes to a standstill in Munich

Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) had already criticized the announcement by Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) a few days ago that the prioritization would be lifted by June 7th. That was the third step before the first and could not work because not enough vaccine was available, said the OB.

In Riem, the deliveries are currently so tight that now mainly second vaccinations are carried out and the first immunization of citizens threatens to stall. According to Schäuble, there are still no innovations with regard to the creation of a digital vaccination record. Zurek said the city couldn’t do this too. According to the health officer in Munich, the Indian variant of the corona virus has not yet occurred. “After the Whitsun holidays, I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” said Zurek.

Corona in Bavaria: Söder has been reported hundreds of times

Update from May 20, 1:29 p.m.: Advertisements from opponents of the Corona measures against Markus Söder employ the Munich I public prosecutor’s office. Around 200 advertisements against high-ranking Bavarian politicians have already been received, most of them against the Prime Minister, such as the public prosecutor’s office Juliane Grotz said on Thursday in Munich.

The advertisements indicate that the state government’s duty to wear a mask in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus is bodily harm. The investigations would be stopped quickly, stressed authority head Hans Kornprobst. Because the allegations are “far away” from recognizable criminal offenses. “Constructing bodily harm out of the mask requirement is simply too far-fetched.” But the flood of advertisements still does work.

In Bavaria’s vaccination centers, prioritization rules apply even longer

Update from May 20, 12:53 p.m.: The vaccine prioritization in general practitioners’ practices was lifted today (see first report). In Bavaria’s Corona vaccination centers, on the other hand, appointments are still assigned according to the prioritization rules of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) at least until the beginning of June. The state government is still looking at the development of the vaccinations and will decide on how to proceed in the next two weeks. Health Minister Klaus Holetschek said on Thursday in the state parliament in Munich.

Due to a lack of vaccine, the Bavarian vaccination centers have currently almost completely suspended the first vaccinations until June 7th. The existing doses are largely used for the upcoming second vaccinations.

Munich incidence again below 50: But concerns about Bayern hotspots remain – vaccination prioritization is falling today

First report from May 20, 6:34 a.m.: Munich – The corona situation in Bavaria continues to relax. In the Free State, the seven-day incidence * is 68.8 (previous day: 74.1). Good news also continues to come from Munich. In the state capital, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI *), the value is 47.6 and thus again below the 50 limit value. As of Wednesday, the incidence was 47.3.

The city of Schweinfurt remains the Bavarian problem child. With an incidence of 211.5, it is in second place in Germany, followed by the cities of Memmingen (204.1) and Coburg (177.7) in third and seventh place.

Corona in Bavaria: GPs are now allowed to vaccinate regardless of the vaccination sequence

Many people in Bavaria have longed for this day: Even if they do not belong to a preferred group, they can now be vaccinated against Corona. Because family doctors and specialists are allowed to vaccinate against the virus from this Thursday, regardless of the vaccination sequence. There is only one catch: there is not enough vaccine. The need for vaccine in the Free State is still well above the quantities supplied. That is why it will take a while until everyone who is interested has their turn.

Corona: Hardly any initial vaccinations in Bavarian vaccination centers until June 7th

In Bavarian vaccination centers, it is unlikely that initial vaccinations can take place until June 7th *. Because the existing doses are largely needed for the upcoming second vaccinations. “I am assuming that we will be able to continue with initial vaccinations in the vaccination centers from calendar week 23, which, by the way, will also be handed over to general practitioners,” Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU *) said on Wednesday in Munich.

With the approval of the prioritization by the doctors, the Free State is moving faster than some other federal states. Only the vaccines from Astrazeneca * and Johnson & Johnson * have been approved nationwide.

Corona protection in Bavaria: why hardly any first vaccinations?

Sharp criticism of the Bavarian corona vaccination strategy – “This is the Holetschek vaccination turbo”

With regard to the vaccination centers, Holetschek emphasized: “The fact that we are now concentrating on the second vaccination for a while is actually nothing surprising.” After all, there were a lot of first vaccinations in April, so the second vaccination is now due there. In addition, there was the switch from Astrazeneca to the mRNA vaccines for the second vaccinations for under 60-year-olds – i.e. Moderna or Biontech *. In the next three weeks, it is mainly the general practitioners and specialists who will give first vaccinations.

Eugen Brysch from the German Patient Protection Foundation criticized this approach: “This is the Holetschek vaccine turbo. Howl loudly while standing, but when it is time to go on the track, there is just enough fuel to roll onto the hard shoulder. “

“Keep your feet still”: Association of general practitioners with an appeal to those willing to be vaccinated

The Bavarian Association of General Practitioners advised those willing to vaccinate to exercise restraint. “I understand that many now want to be vaccinated quickly, especially in the run-up to the holiday season. But I appeal to people to keep their feet still now and not to phone the practices and overwhelm them with vaccination requests, ”said the chairman of the association, Markus Beier of the world (Thursday). There are not enough appointments and not enough vaccine yet, that is not expected to change until mid-June. Beier also warned that capacities would be blocked for people who do not come to the practices because of Corona. “We are seeing the first bottlenecks.” (Came) * Merkur.de / bayern is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
