Corona increase in numbers alarmed: Greens expert warns of "disaster" scenario

The corona incidence in Germany is far beyond 100 for the first time since May. Jens Spahn (CDU) is therefore rushing forward, but is also met with incomprehension.

Berlin – The nationwide 7-day incidence in Germany * is 154.8 this Monday – after 149.4 yesterday. It should be noted that the numbers reported are often lower on weekends and public holidays. The Robert Koch Institute * (RKI) also reported 9,658 new infections with Corona and 23 deaths in connection with the virus.

The acting Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU *) has therefore now asked the federal states to restart their vaccination centers. They should offer “as many as possible” a booster vaccination. That said the politician of the Rheinische Post on Monday. In addition, Spahn advised, as a first step, to invite all people over 60 in writing to be vaccinated.

Booster vaccination: Stiko strongly advises certain groups

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) recommends the booster vaccination for people over the age of 70, residents and those cared for in care facilities for the elderly, nursing staff who have direct contact with the elderly and people with a weakened immune system.

The reason is that more people should take advantage of a booster vaccination against the diminishing effects of the vaccine. At the weekend Spahn had also called for a federal-state summit on the subject. Among other things, there was criticism from the medical profession at the proposal. CSU * boss Markus Söder * and SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach are also in favor of such a meeting. Lauterbach had previously proposed a vaccination center reopening.

“Booster vaccination summit”: Berlin’s mayor addresses Spahn

Berlin’s Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) was skeptical in the ZDF program “Berlin direkt” on Sunday evening as to whether a booster vaccination summit would make sense. “If we don’t want to get together there to chat, then I ask what do we want to arrange and what does the Federal Minister of Health offer us?”

The booster vaccinations are already being implemented, continued Müller, and the elders have been invited. The question is what Spahn specifically wants to discuss. “I haven’t heard anything about that yet.” He expects Spahn to say what plan he has for the next difficult months, explained Müller.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s head of government Manuela Schwesig (SPD), on the other hand, spoke out in favor of such a summit on the ARD program “Report from Berlin”.

High corona incidence – Greens health expert: “Running in disaster”

The Green * health expert Janosch Dahmen was dissatisfied with the course of the Corona * vaccinations in the practices of the resident doctors. “After the closure of most vaccination centers, the practices clearly fail to meet the expectations placed on them, neither with the initial nor with the booster vaccinations,” said Dahmen to the RND newspapers on Monday. “The speed with the first and two vaccinations and with the boosters is not sufficient.”

Dahmen emphasized: “If the vaccination rate in the standard care of the practices is not sufficient, we will finally have to vaccinate in other places, for example pharmacies.” He expressed concern about the current pandemic situation. “The number of intensive care patients could rise again to 3000 in the next few weeks. If there is also a violent flu epidemic, we will run into a catastrophe, ”he said. (dpa / AFP / frs) * Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
