Update from September 7th, 10:20 pm: In the most populous state in Germany, a change in the quarantine obligation at schools and kindergartens is pending. As the Minister of Health of North Rhine-Westphalia, Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU), announced that in the event of corona infections in schools and daycare centers, only the sick children themselves should be quarantined. “We are creating a regulation with a sense of proportion that ensures both the safety of our children and young people and their right to take part in face-to-face lessons and care,” explained Laumann.
Hygiene rules, regular ventilation, wearing a mask and tests should be continued. The health department can only impose quarantine obligations on the affected child if several children are infected. Self-isolation can be ended after five days and a negative PCR test. On September 6, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) and the state health ministers spoke out in favor of less strict quarantine rules in schools.
Update from September 7th, 9:35 p.m.: Even if there is enough vaccine for the population in Germany, global demand exceeds the stocks of vaccine manufacturers. However, this should change soon, as the international pharmaceutical association IFPMA announced. By the middle of next year at the latest, total production will exceed global demand, so that there will soon be enough vaccine for everyone worldwide. The threshold of a total of 7.5 billion cans produced will be exceeded this September, said IFPMA boss Thomas Cueni. By the end of the year, twelve billion cans can be expected to be produced.
Corona in Germany: Rhineland-Palatinate allows unlimited meetings of vaccinated and convalescent
Update from September 7th, 3:15 p.m.: After Schleswig-Holstein has already taken a new path in the corona pandemic (see previous update), Rhineland-Palatinate is now also introducing a new regulation. So from Sunday a so-called 2G-Plus regulation with restrictions for unvaccinated people will be introduced. “For those who have been vaccinated and recovered, it remains a very large piece of normality,” said Prime Minister Malu Dreyer on Tuesday after a meeting of the state cabinet in Mainz. Unlimited meetings should be possible for these groups. In addition, there could be a certain contingent of tested unvaccinated people.
But that’s not all, in the future instead of the incidence, the intensive care bed occupancy and the hospitalization tendency should be criteria for further protective measures. There will be no further lockdown, explained Dreyer. Instead, with increasing numbers, the access of unvaccinated people to events of all kinds and the catering trade should be gradually reduced.
According to the regulation, there will be three new warning levels from Sunday, which are made up of the seven-day incidence, the seven-day hospitalization value and the proportion of intensive care beds occupied with Covid-19 diseases. If at least two of the indicators reached certain values over three days in a row, the next higher level is proclaimed.
In general, according to the ordinance, a maximum of 25 unvaccinated people will be allowed in public spaces in the future. When warning level two is reached, the number is reduced to ten, and when warning level three is reached, it is reduced to five. Up to 250 tested unvaccinated people can take part in events in closed rooms. This number is also reduced when warning levels two and three are reached.
“No more restrictions in the future”: the first federal state surprisingly lifts (almost) all measures
Update from September 7th, 1:50 p.m.: The coronavirus has been preoccupying Germany and the world for almost two years, many restrictions still apply. Among other things, the mask requirement has become an integral part of everyday life. Schleswig-Holstein now wants to abolish exactly this mask requirement, for example at events, in sports and in gastronomy.
The so-called 3G principle applies there, according to which only vaccinated, convalescent or tested people are given access. “Wherever 3G can be complied with in Schleswig-Holstein, there will no longer be any restrictions in the future,” said Prime Minister Daniel Günther on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Kiel.
The state government made up of the CDU, the Greens and the FDP wants to make a clear change of course by September 20. In future, it will rely on the so-called 3G rule. According to the plans, there will then no longer be any capacity restrictions at events, in the cinema, in sports or in restaurants. Wherever the 3G rule is not practicable, such as in retail or in local public transport, the existing rules will remain, said Günther.
In addition to the seven-day incidence, the occupancy of intensive care units with Covid-19 patients is to come more into focus in the future.
Only 2.2 percent of the possible intensive care beds are currently occupied, said Günther. On Monday, the number of new corona infections in Schleswig-Holstein within seven days, according to the state government, was 50.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. 67 Covid-19 patients were treated in the hospitals. 19 of them are in the intensive care unit, 16 are ventilated there.
Corona in Germany: vaccination numbers stagnate – Spahn with renewed appeal
Update from September 7th, 11 a.m.: The corona numbers continue to rise, but the number of people vaccinated against the corona virus has stagnated for some time. In the meantime, 61.4 percent of people in Germany have had a protective corona vaccination, as the RKI explained on Tuesday. Around 54.8 million people (65.9 percent) have now received at least one vaccination.
The RKI puts the vaccination doses administered on Monday at 118,545. Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn therefore called on Twitter to vaccinate again on Tuesday. “When it comes to incidence and intensive care units, we see that we are experiencing a growing pandemic of the unvaccinated. Everyone who can should get their protection! “

New Corona code – the hospitalization incidence
The RKI gives the hospitalization incidence in its current management report from Monday at 1.64. The last value from Friday: 1.83. The hospitalization incidence is the number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. Since an average of about ten days elapse between an infection and hospitalization, this value reflects the infection situation with a noticeable delay. According to RKI information, the calculation is based on the reporting date to the local health department. The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.
The number of patients in the regional clinics is to become a new parameter for assessing the situation in the corona pandemic. This Tuesday, the Bundestag wants to pass some new regulations shortly before the election. The free corona tests * are also to be abolished. (ml) * Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
