In some holiday areas, the signs are pointing to relaxation in the pandemic. The federal government is removing popular Mediterranean islands from the list of high-risk areas. Other states are being added.
[Berlin -] The federal government is removing the popular holiday islands of Crete and Corsica as well as the French region Occitania from the list of Corona high-risk areas from Sunday.
In France, this classification only applies to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and some overseas territories, as reported by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Greece – where the southern Aegean as well as Crete has lost this classification – is now completely removed from the list.
Newly classified as high risk areas
Norway with the provinces of Oslo and Viken as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nicaragua and Grenada are newly classified as high-risk areas. Countries and regions with a particularly high risk of infection are assigned to this category. Returnees who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered must be quarantined for ten days. But you can get rid of it after five days with a negative test.
For the classification – unlike in the past – not only the infection numbers are decisive. Other criteria are the speed at which the virus is spreading, the burden on the health system or a lack of data on the corona situation.
Large part of South America “risk-free” again
From Sunday on, a large part of South America will be “risk-free” again: Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador and Peru will be removed from the list. In addition, Oman and Namibia will be deleted. [dpa]
