James Bond for children meets “Fridays for Future”: In their latest cinema adventure, the “Pfefferkörner” help rid the oceans of plastic.
Hamburg – Northern Irish cliffs instead of Speicherstadt: In their second movie, Hamburg’s “Pfefferkörner” once again go on the big screen on the hunt for criminals.
While the young detectives were still looking for a treasure in the South Tyrolean Alps in their first movie “The Peppercorns and the Curse of the Black King”, they are now drawn to the steep coast of Northern Ireland.
In “The Peppercorns and the Treasure of the Deep Sea”, the friends track down an unscrupulous environmental crime and also save a groundbreaking invention against plastic waste in the ocean.
As with the first “Pfefferkörner” movie, Christian Theede is directing the film. In addition to the young actors Emilia, Caspar, Leander, Charlotte and Linda, this time Heino Ferch as a seedy recycling entrepreneur and Meriam Abbas as a marine biologist are part of the party. At the children’s media festival “Goldener Spatz” the film has already been recognized as “Best Feature Film”.
Dangerous search
The new movie is again an exciting and action-packed adventure: The research laboratory of Tarun’s mother Jaswinder in Northern Ireland is broken into, a little later she disappears without a trace – and with her important research results. Because Jaswinder is researching a project that could drastically reduce plastic waste in the world’s oceans. Does entrepreneur Fleckmann, who secretly dumps rubbish in the sea, have his fingers in the game? The five friends embark on a dangerous search that takes them from the headquarters in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt to the fishing village of Wesermünde, where Jaswinder’s research ship is moored.
The eleventh generation is at the start
Child detectives have been solving tricky cases on television for more than 20 years. They hunt environmental offenders, drug smugglers and other criminals mainly across the city of Hamburg. In the course of time, a lot has changed: The “Pfefferkörner” no longer use landline phones to investigate, but instead use cell phones and the Internet. And there are always new casts, because the actors of the first episodes have long since grown up. The eleventh generation is at the start in the cinema. The new episodes of the ARD children’s series have been on television since the beginning of 2021.
