Do not pay more! This should cost a kilo of chicken, according to Profeco

Chicken , like other products in the basic basket, has suffered an increase in its price due to inflation. That is why, to avoid abuse and for consumers to take care of their pockets, the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco) announced what the price per kilo of this food should be.

According to the agency’s ‘Who’s Who’ program, through which the prices of products and services are disclosed so that consumers can compare and choose the one that suits them best, these are the prices for a kilo of chicken for the month of July.

Profeco points out that a kilo of chicken legs is between 50 and 70 pesos , with Ciudad Juárez being where it is obtained at the lowest price, with 53.15 pesos, while the entity where you have to pay the most is in La Paz, Baja California, where the input reaches 75.74 pesos.

On the other hand, if you choose to buy chicken breast , the value is between 80 and 175 pesos , depending on the area of the country. In this case, Profeco revealed that in Cuernavaca, Morelos, it is where it is at the lowest price, 82.63 pesos per kilo, contrary to Baja California, where the same amount is quoted at 173.40 pesos.

How much should a kilo of chicken cost in CDMX and the Metropolitan Area?

In Mexico City and the Metropolitan Area, in July, a kilo of chicken has the following price depending on which part of the animal is purchased:

  • 1 kilo of bulk chicken breast, American cut: 84.32 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of chicken breast in bulk, with bone, skin and without tail: 110.32 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of boneless breast in bulk: 150.98 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of breast fillet in bulk: 163.72 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of chicken leg in bulk: 71.26 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of Bachoco brand whole chicken in bulk: 42.92 pesos.
  • 1 kilo of whole chicken in bulk Patsa brand: 48 pesos
  • 1 kilo of whole chicken in bulk from the supermarket: 49.82 pesos.

Profeco also pointed out which are the centers where you can get this product at a lower price in the CDMX and the Metropolitan Area:

  • Bodega Aurrera, Cuautitlán 1 branch, Fuentes del Valle and Chedraui Neza Norte: 74 pesos per kilo of American-cut chicken breast.
  • Mercado San Antonio (Cuautitlán) and Mercado Libertad Independencia (Coacalco): 84 pesos per kilo of chicken breast with bone, skin and without tailbone.
  • Walmart, Ecatepec branch: 89 pesos per kilo of chicken breast with bone, skin and without tail.
  • Mega Soriana Izcalli branch: 119.90 pesos per kilo of boneless breast.
  • Chedraui Selecto Toreo, Walmart Satellite, Pirules and Echegaray branches: 129 pesos per kilo of boneless breast.
  • Walmart Express Lomas Anáhuac branch: 132 pesos per kilo of boneless chicken breast.
  • Walmart branch Pirules: 129 pesos fillet breast.
  • Chedraui Neza Norte branch: 136 pesos per kilo of fillet breast.
  • Garis stores Tollocan branch: 161 pesos per kilo of fillet breast.
