A film like a feverish dream. Dominik Graf transforms Kästner's novel into a wild collage.
Berlin – Dominik Graf's new film takes the viewer to the seething Berlin of the Weimar Republic. With "Fabian or The Walk to the Dogs", the director has made a novel by Erich Kästner from 1931.
The story tells of the Germanist Jakob Fabian (Tom Schilling), who roams through the nightlife with his friend Labude (Albrecht Schuch) and will soon lose his job. He falls in love with the budding actress Cornelia (Saskia Rosendahl). National Socialism is growing in the background. The film – a wild collage – ran in the competition at this year's Berlinale.
