Duchess Meghan celebrated her first success in the fight for more equality at the age of eleven. Since then, she has made the topic her life’s work and has already achieved a lot.
Montecito – Meghan (40) found it questionable early on that only women were addressed as the target group of a commercial for dishwashing liquid. “I don’t think it’s right that children grow up thinking that only mom does everything,” said the then 11-year-old in an interview with “Nick News”, a children’s platform on the Internet and TV. She wrote to the manufacturer, the spot has been changed. Since then, equality has been Duchess Meghan’s big topic.*

In 2015, the Duchess appeared at the UN’s International Women’s Day and hit the nerve of the times with her speech. She advocated accelerating the 2030 expiration date for gender inequality demanded by UN Women. “Eleven percent in 20 years? I ask you. That has to change,” she rumbled in front of the assembled team.

After two trips to India in 2017, the mother of two authored an essay on the stigma of menstruation in developing countries and campaigned to improve access to girls’ latrines, the lack of which is a real problem for 63 million teenage girls.
Since her marriage to Prince Harry* (37), her network has expanded, she is compared to Diana* (36, † 1997), the issues remain the same: equality, education, injustice. In an exchange of words with the feminist Gloria Steinem (87), Meghan also declared the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II* (95) to be a feminist. Meghan: “It’s not mutually exclusive to be a feminist and to be feminine.” Steinem then: “Well, you can be a feminist and at the same time male and a man.” Then Meghan: “Like my man”! * 24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
