Berlin – The Spanish director Isaki Lacuesta reported on the moving shooting of his film “Un año, una noche” about the terrorist attack on the Paris concert hall “Bataclan”.
“It was a very emotional shoot,” said Lacuesta in Berlin, where his film will be presented in competition at the Berlinale.
In the middle of the approximately seven-week shoot, he said to his leading actors Noémie Merlant and Nahuel Pérez Biscayart that the most difficult phase was now over. “But it continued with strong emotions,” said Lacuesta.
The support of the survivors Céline and Ramón, who provided the basis for the film with their report on the concert visit, helped a lot during the shooting at the original location in the “Bataclan”.
In the series of attacks on November 13, 2015, terrorists shot 130 people during a concert in the “Bataclan” and in bars and restaurants in the area. There were 350 injured. Three suicide bombers blew themselves up at the Stade de France during an international football match between France and Germany.
The film tells how differently Céline and Ramón deal with the deep scars in their lives as survivors. “You can’t share experiences,” said Lacuesta, referring to individual experiences.
