The Etna volcano , on the Italian island of Sicily (south), has experienced a new eruption in its southeastern crater, with emission of ash and lava, while the amplitude of volcanic tremors is increasing, reported the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology Italian (INGV). An event that occurs only two days after the La Palma volcano erupted.
The volcanic activity began around 6:15 local time (4:15 GMT), with the emission of ash and 40 minutes later the resumption of strombolian activity was observed in the southeast crater, the most active in the last eruptions of Etna .
The crater from which the lava emanates is located in the southeast and the cloud has reached a height of nine kilometers that is visible from Catania and Taormina.
The INGV has issued a red alert for aviation (Vona), the highest level of alert, but the current activity of Etna does not impact the operations of the international airport of Catania, reports the local press.
