Facebook services not available to many users

Facebook services such as the online network and WhatsApp are not available to many users. The causes are unclear.

New York – On Monday (October 4th, 2021) there were major failures in several Facebook group services. In addition to Facebook and Instagram, the WhatsApp news service was also unavailable for a long time. This was shown by reporting platforms for malfunctions from 5.30 p.m.

The failure of the services does not only affect Germany. Reports of a malfunction are being received worldwide, including from the USA, Great Britain and India.

A spokesman for Facebook apologized on Twitter. He assured that the network was already working on a solution. The cause was initially not mentioned. Tech experts suspect a problem with the DNS service. This service ensures that website names typed in letters are translated into IP addresses so that they can be accessed.
