The journalist Peter R. de Vries is dead. After an attack on the criminal reporter, he succumbs to his serious injuries.
Amsterdam – The prominent Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries has died after an assassination attempt. He died from his serious injuries. The family announced on Thursday in Amsterdam. De Vries was gunned down in Amsterdam on July 6th.
“Peter fought to the end but couldn’t win the fight. He died surrounded by the people who love him ”, the family is quoted in a message from RTL nieuws.
Peter R. de Vries gunned down in Amsterdam – two men arrested
The 64-year-old was gunned down on the street in Amsterdam last week and was critically injured. A 21-year-old from Rotterdam and a 35-year-old Polish citizen living in the Netherlands were arrested after the crime. A third man, who was also arrested, was released.
De Vries is known for his role in high profile crime cases and as a spokesperson for crime victims. According to media reports, he was most recently the confidante of the most important key witness in a trial against the alleged drug lord Ridouan Taghi.
Peter R. de Vries was on drug lord’s hit list
According to earlier information from de Vries, he was on Taghi’s “hit list”. The drug lord is the most wanted criminal in the Netherlands, his organization is described by prosecutors as a “well-oiled killing machine”.
