It is estimated that approximately one in ten people in the world are left-handed. Among them are, of course, famous people from both the present and the past.
Among the most illustrious left-handed scientists, Marie Curie stands out, a pioneer in the study of radioactivity and winner of two Nobel prizes (in Physics and Chemistry). Other characters in the world of science and innovation who were better handled with the left hand are Isaac Newton and Alan Turing.
We cite the versatile Leonardo da Vinci as a famous left-handed character, although a recent analysis of his work Paesaggio , presented by experts from the Opificio delle petre dure in Florence, indicates that the artist and inventor would have been ambidextrous. An idea that is not far-fetched, as we know that in times not so distant, left-handed children were forced to write with their right, so many ended up using both hands equally.
Space has also been visited by many left-handed people, and world famous astronauts such as Buzz Aldrin, Charles Duke, Jim Lovell and Edgar Mitchell.
If we go to the world of art, in addition to the versatile (and also ambidextrous) Leonardo da Vinci, we can mention numerous characters who had more skill with the left hand: MC Escher, Van Gogh, Lewis Carrol, Rubens and Michelangelo are some good examples.
The world of music is not far behind , surely you are a fan of one or more of these left-handed musicians: Noel Gallagher, Sting, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix.
Filmmakers, philosophers, politicians, footballers … within the cast of famous lefties there is everything. Did you know that Hitler was left-handed? And also Gandhi, Diego Armando Maradona, Aristotle, Vladimir Putin, George Bush Sr., Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe and Bill Clinton.
