There seems to be one topic that still doesn’t seem to calm down over the whole corona pandemic: vaccinations. Many are afraid of the side effects of the vaccine*. Others are gripped by the panic of unwanted long-term consequences. echo24.de * took a close look at the numbers. These speak a clear language about the probability of negative consequences.
Anyone who deals with vaccinations and the known side effects and possible consequences must consider one thing carefully: it depends on how numbers are viewed, which numbers are discussed and what they can really say. So it can sound like an enormous increase when these two numbers described in an SWR article are compared.

“In Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Supply (LSJV) is responsible for applications for compensation after vaccination. As the authority informed the SWR, the number of such applications has increased more than tenfold with the introduction of the corona vaccination. In the past, an average of nine applications for compensation after a vaccination were made in Rhineland-Palatinate per year. At the end of the first year of the corona vaccinations, there are 93 applications (as of January 25, 2022).”

But: In relation to the more than eight million vaccinations administered in the country so far (as of January 25, 2022), according to the Robert Koch Institute, this corresponds to a rate of around 0.012 per thousand.

And if we look beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg? The Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) has researched that there were a total of 1,219 applications for damages after a corona vaccination in all federal states (as of January 13, 2022). In relation to the 155.4 million vaccinations nationwide at that time, according to the newspaper, this corresponded to a rate of around 0.008 per thousand.
