The entity calculates the increase according to the department of residence and whether it is an urban or rural area. This year the greatest increase in value in relation to 2020 will be seen by Guaviare, which will reach $ 62,946 (+ 19%). They are followed by San Andrés Islas with a variation of 18.7% ($ 46,406), Putumayo with 17.9% ($ 41,459), Caquetá with 17% ($ 38,371) and Guainía with 16.6% ($ 56,383).

In Antioquia the quota was $ 38,276 (+10%), in Atlántico it was $ 33,167 (+6.2%), in Boyacá it was $ 36,247 (+10.2%), in Caquetá it was $ 38,371 (+17%), in Cundinamarca it was $ 38,932 (+ 8.1%), in Chocó at $ 31,997 (no increase), in Huila at $ 37,379 (+14.4%), in Meta at $ 35,381 (+1.3%), in Nariño at $ 39,780 (+13, 9%), in Santander at $ 35,877 (+8.5%) and in Quindío at $ 36,989 (+13.8%), to mention a few.

It is worth remembering that when it comes to a worker in a rural area, the monetary quota increases by 15% compared to what is delivered to the urban worker, “that is, a worker can receive between $ 31,000 and $ 72,000 per month per person at his position ”, explained the superintendent of the Family Subsidy, Julián Molina Gómez.

According to the entity, this benefit is received each month by more than five million people throughout the country who are dependents of workers affiliated with the compensation funds who earn less than four minimum monthly wages.

The superintendent of the Family Subsidy specified that among the dependents of the worker who benefit from the subsidy are: children and siblings not older than 18 years of age who are economically dependent on the worker and who prove that they are studying when they are older than 12 years; parents of the worker over 60 years of age, who do not receive any pension, salary or income and parents or siblings described above in a state of disability or with reduced physical capacity.

People who meet these conditions and have not yet received the benefit can approach their family compensation fund to process it.

The resources of the monetary quota arise from the business contributions of the almost 700,000 affiliated companies, which in 2020 contributed close to $ 7.7 billion.

Molina Gómez recalled that the monetary fee reduces the probability of being poor by 11%, a percentage that rises to 75% in rural areas. In addition, the subsidy increases school attendance by 2.38% for urban areas and 3.72% for rural areas, and that beneficiaries are 1.3 times more likely to be part of and remain in the middle class.
