Kraichtal – In a house fire in Kraichtal in the Karlsruhe district, emergency services recovered three dead on Tuesday. According to initial information from a police spokesman, “probably children” are among them.
The helpers also got a seriously injured man out of the building. A rescue helicopter flew the victim to a hospital with burn injuries.
The fire broke out around noon for an initially unknown reason in the single-family house in the Baden-Württemberg town, it said. The building was on fire. The spokesman was not able to provide any information about the identity of the injured and the dead in the afternoon. It was also unclear whether the people had died as a result of the fire.
The police blocked the road around the scene of the fire near the train station in the Unteröwisheim district. The Kraichtal volunteer fire brigade was on duty and brought the flames under control. At first nobody could be spoken to there.
A helicopter would take pictures of the fire site, said the police spokesman.
The town of Kraichtal is located in the northeast of the district of Karlsruhe and has around 15,000 inhabitants. About 3500 people live in Unteröwisheim. dpa
