América Móvil continues to advance in the deployment of 5G infrastructure. As of the second quarter of this year, the company controlled by Carlos Slim has brought this technology to 40 cities in the country with 56 million people, which represents an advance of 22 cities compared to the 18 with which it began in February of this year.
For the fifth generation of networks, Telcel will require an investment of 1,800 million dollars, the amount of which is added to the injection they have already made to their entire infrastructure.
In the second quarter of this year, the telecommunications company obtained positive financial results in its operation, despite the inflation that has put pressure on users’ pockets.
From April to June of this year, the company’s net income registered 22,986 million pesos, an increase of 5.8% compared to 21,727 million pesos in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the operating flow (or EBITDA, for its acronym in English) registered an increase of 5.2%, registering 30,978 million pesos in the second quarter of this year.
The company’s total revenues accumulated 76,844 million pesos in the period, which represents an increase of 2.1% compared to the 75,291 million pesos registered in the second quarter of 2021.
In a disaggregated manner, mobile service sales grew 8.8% , driven by a 10.4% increase in prepaid revenues. While in postpaid they accelerated at a pace of 6.6% and their postpaid ARPU increased 7.2% and prepaid ARPU 5.9%, compared to the prior year quarter.
At the end of the second quarter of this year, América Móvil added 374,000 subscribers , including 22,000 postpaid to close with a total of 81.4 million mobile clients, 3.3% more than in the same period of the previous year.
