Hope probe reaches orbit of Mars

The probe sent by the United Arab Emirates to the red planet has been successfully inserted into the orbit that was programmed , with what has become the first interplanetary mission of an Arab country.

What is your scientific objective?

Study the meteorological changes throughout a Martian year. The probe is designed to reveal the secrets of the Martian climate, but the UAE also wants it to inspire the country's youth. In April 2021 will be when the scientific exploration begins. It will complete an elliptical orbit every 55 hours obtaining a global image of the neighboring planet every 9 days . The first data from the mission will be published in September and will be made available to the international scientific community.

While the probe is designed to provide a complete picture of the planet's meteorological dynamics, it is also a step towards a much more ambitious goal: building a human settlement on Mars within 100 years.

Hope is the first of three spacecraft to arrive on Mars this month after China and the United States also launched their respective missions in July, taking advantage of a period when Earth and Mars are closer together.
