Hours of searching in Italy for escaped boys

A boy who is only 21 months old has escaped from home. Firefighters and mountain rescuers searched for him for hours. The story ended well in the end.

Palazzuolo sul Senio – In Tuscany, a little boy escaped from home at night and triggered a large search operation by the rescue workers.

On Monday shortly before midnight, the little one’s parents from Palazzuolo sul Senio in the Apennine Mountains noticed that he was no longer in his bed, as the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” reported on Wednesday. A little later, firefighters and mountain rescuers went to look for the 21-month-old boy in the woods around the community. The all-clear came on Wednesday morning: the boy’s shouts had drawn the attention of a man who found him safe in a ravine.

The area where the boy lives is remote around 70 kilometers northeast of Florence. With drones, helicopters, thermal imaging cameras and search dogs, the rescuers scouted the area all night. “We haven’t slept for two days, but this effort has paid off,” said the mayor of the municipality in a press statement. The Ansa news agency reported, citing the police, that the rescuers flew the boy with his mother to a children’s clinic in Florence on Wednesday morning for some examinations. dpa
