Any help came too late for him: a four-year-old boy died when a house collapsed in Turin in northern Italy.
Turin – A young boy was killed in the collapse of a house in Italy. The emergency services moved to the building in the north of the city of Turin on Tuesday morning, as the fire brigade announced on Twitter.
After several hours, they would have recovered the boy's lifeless body. The debris crushed his body, as it was said. The firefighters were looking for more injuries or survivors. According to the Ansa news agency, the boy was four years old.
Previously, the rescuers said they had freed several people from the rubble, including another boy. Paramedics took care of them. The torn walls of the house could be seen on videos from the fire brigade. Remnants of wood and wall lay on the floor. Part of the roof had collapsed. The fire brigade worked its way through the rubble with heavy equipment.
How the collapse came about was initially unclear. In Italy there are repeated partial collapses of houses. In the Turin case, the media initially speculated about the possible explosion of a gas cylinder. dpa
