Human talent, the difference between an ordinary company and an extraordinary one

(Expansion) – The times when salary was the only tool for companies to retain key talent and the well-being of employees are completely behind us. Currently, this is just one factor that influences satisfaction levels, but it is not the only one or the most important.

The trend is clearer every day: to have better work teams, it is important that each of the members can develop both personally and professionally.

In this sense, companies in all sectors, including technology, have to make a deep transformation and change the ‘chip’ to head in that direction. Of course you have to think about the productivity, operability and profitability of businesses, but an essential point in this equation is the commitment to human talent. By focusing on the well-being of collaborators, everything else comes by itself.

Money is important, of course, but it’s not the primary goal of most employees, particularly younger generations. Aspects such as a good work environment, a similar organizational culture, promotion of diversity and inclusion in work teams, workplace wellness practices, as well as professional development and training programs can be decisive factors in attracting and retaining the best talent.

Employees are the engine of companies. In times of economic complexity like the current ones, it is the employees who, with their skills and creativity, can promote not only the survival of the company, but also its chances of capitalizing on the crisis into a growth opportunity.

Why bet on human talent?

In an industry like technology that grows exponentially, human talent is what differentiates an ordinary company from an extraordinary one, since the development and implementation of cutting-edge technology not only demands hard skills , but also soft skills such as creativity, communication effective, leadership, resilience, curiosity, among others.

Finding a collaborator with a high level of hard skills and soft skills is a ‘gold mine’; however, without a company culture that fosters them, these skills can be diluted and give way to incredibly talented but highly frustrated, stressed, and burnt-out employees.

On the other hand, work environments that promote collaboration and the comprehensive development of talent help to have satisfied, creative and happy collaborators with their work.

Designing and implementing actions with a focus on talent wellness has many benefits for companies. It all lies in seeing workers for what they are: human beings. When this happens, companies can learn what their personal and professional goals are and offer them not just a job, but an opportunity to change their lives.

Constant training, compensation, recognition, flexible hours or even psychological care, physiotherapy, etc., are the best bet of a company.

The best are with the best

Tech companies have taken important steps to achieve this goal. However, there is still a way to go. The market is increasingly competitive. There are companies from all over the world that recruit in Mexico and companies from Mexico that recruit all over the world. The barriers are disappearing.

Currently we compete with recruiters from all over the world, if we do not go beyond what everyone offers, we fall behind and lose the best professionals.

Employees evaluate different aspects before joining an organization, but also when changing jobs. The companies with the best practices are the ones that will end up keeping the best profiles and with this they are shaping up to be the leaders of their industries.

Companies that decide not to radically change their way of understanding and promoting human talent will only have one future: one in which no matter how good their product or service is, little by little they will fall by the wayside.
