A study by the Beihang University of China reveals that anger is the most influential emotion on social media , and suggests that messages and tweets that show anger and irritation towards news and events are more likely to go viral and spread. The conclusions were drawn from 70 million messages posted by 200,000 users on the social network Weibo , a Chinese microblogging platform equivalent to Twitter.
The results also reveal that if you share your aversion to something, your sadness or your happiness through Twitter, your message will probably not get too far. In other words, the emotions a message contains affects how it spreads and how many interactions it generates on social media.
