Jens Spahn promises: "No lockdown for vaccinated people" – but an exception threatens

Health Minister Jens Spahn wants to replace the 50 incidence value in Germany with new factors. In addition, there should be no further lockdown for vaccinated and genesis.

For almost a year and a half, the coronavirus and thus also the 50s incidence has dominated Germany as an important limit value. Now Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) wants to initiate a change of course: In the future, restrictions due to Corona should no longer apply within seven days from an incidence of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

Instead, among other things, the burden in hospitals is to be introduced as a new benchmark in the Infection Protection Act. In addition, those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered can be happy, because there should be no more serious restrictions for them. In Baden-Württemberg, new corona rules have been in effect since August 16. As reported by echo24.de *, the incidence has been deleted from the current Corona Regulation * as a guide for restrictions and easing.

Health Minister Jens Spahn: Corona restrictions should not depend solely on incidence

“The 50s incidence in the law has had its day,” said Spahn on Monday on ZDF . The rate of corona cases in the hospital should take the place of the incidence. “The new parameter is then hospitalization,” Spahn continued. In the ARD Tagesthemen , however, the Minister of Health made it clear that no one had said that incidence was no longer a benchmark.

The fact is: After the vaccination advances, one can now focus more on the hospital burden. “But this question is also related to the incidence. The more you become infected, the more will of course have to continue to be treated in the clinics, ”said Spahn. Details of the planned new regulations remained open for the time being.

Change of course in corona policy: new rules on incidence should come in September

As the German Press Agency (dpa) announced , the move away from the incidence was not Spahn’s decision alone. Because: On Monday, August 23, the Corona cabinet met with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) for the first time since the summer break.

At the conference, it was agreed that a turn in the corona policy must be initiated. Because of this, Health Minister Jens Spahn should quickly make a corresponding proposal and the Federal Cabinet can then decide on it, said government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Monday in Berlin.

On Wednesday, August 25, the federal government will first decide on the continuation of the epidemic situation of national importance. The new regulation on incidence in the Infection Protection Act could be appended to another law and decided in a further session before the federal election in September, as it was called in parliamentary groups.

Vaccinated and convalescent people do not have to fear any corona restrictions – but exceptions are possible

The Infection Protection Act currently stipulates that comprehensive protective measures must be taken within seven days if a threshold value of over 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is exceeded. In the future, possible corona restrictions should also be largely based on the number of cases treated in the hospital. Currently there are 1.28 such cases per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days (as of August 23), as reported by the dpa.

In addition to the abolition of the 50s incidence, Jens Spahn also promised no further lockdown and serious restrictions for vaccinated and convalescent people in the ARD daily topics. “Vaccinated and convalescent people should have an easier time” – unless a new variant develops against which vaccines do not help.

Spahn considers the 2G rule, according to which vaccinated and genesis patients can get certain advantages, to be a “sensible way”.

But this is not to be seen at the moment. “With the Delta variant * we can safely get through autumn and winter, when a lot of people get vaccinated and we have the 3G principle * in the interior,” says Spahn.

Currently, in Germany and thus also in Baden-Württemberg, according to the requirements of the Prime Minister’s Conference, partially expanded “3G” rules * apply: If there is a high infection rate, access to restaurants, hairdressers, clinics, swimming pools and other indoor areas is only given to those who have been vaccinated, who have genesis or who have tested negative . * echo24.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
