The actor thinks the world should smile again after tough weeks and months. He therefore recommends his new film.
Berlin – Especially in these times, humor makes a lot of sense for actor Johnny Knoxville. “It was time that people laughed again,” said the 50-year-old of the German Press Agency in Berlin before the German cinema release of “Jackass Forever”, the fourth film in the cult series.
“Because it’s been a rough couple of years for the world. And it’s going crazy again, so… yeah, people need an outlet and fun.”
Jackass director Jeff Tremaine added: “We got really good reviews this time. That didn’t make sense to me – I was expecting the same thing we usually get, which is bad reviews.” Perhaps the film would be so well received “because the world is so broken”.
22 years after its debut on MTV, Jackass Forever hits theaters Thursday. The crew around Knoxville, Steve-O or Wee Man sticks to the proven concept with incoherent tricks and pranks. Knoxville, for example, does a stunt with a bull. This brought him to the hospital with a brain hemorrhage and broken bones. “It took me a few months to recover from the stunt,” he said. Would he do it again? No. “It really wrecked my brain and I wrecked it a lot. But if you break my ankle, I have no problem with that.” dpa
