It is not the first time that Blum has caught a giant fish: The real sensation was already a year ago, as it turned out in the last few days. In 2019 he even caught a 2.70 meter long catfish and presented it – like this time – on his Facebook page . So far he had assumed that it was only 2.45 meters long, after an expert’s assessment it now turned out that the fish from then was significantly longer.
This just barely missed the world record for the largest catfish ever caught. A Frenchman holds the record at 2.74 meters *. In an interview with vol.at, Blum was asked about his recipe for success : “I would like to say it’s ability. But that such a big fish goes into our nets is simply lucky, ”said the fisherman.
Lake Constance: Catfish have no natural enemies: “You don’t do anything bad there”
The 2.70 monster is probably the largest fish ever caught in Lake Constance. The specialist himself assumes that even larger catfish will be caught in the future, because they are predators , never stop growing and have no natural enemies in Europe’s third largest lake. The latest 2.20 catch is already being offered as filet backs for consumption in Blum’s restaurant “Fränzle”. The rest of the fish is smoked.
