Little Alonso Quijano has read an old book that makes him change the way he behaves, even the way he speaks. Now he is convinced that he is a valiant knight errant in search of adventure. We present a chapter of Little Don Quixote, published by Panamericana Editorial.
The beginning of the adventure
Which is about how little Alonso decided to become a gentleman gentleman.
Covered by a solid armor, the brave knight endured the fire that the enormous dragon launched on his shield. He was the last warrior standing, the last to make it there, the only one capable of breaking through the wall that surrounded the insurmountable castle. In the highest tower, the knight spotted the princess waiting to be rescued.

The dragon was not going to give up, he would fight fiercely without rest to prevent the daring hero from advancing another centimeter. As soon as the monster stopped blowing, the knight demanded: “Don’t you recognize me, dear dragon?” You better give up, I wish for you to have compassion. I have only come to rescue the princess, your majestic fierceness I would not want to hurt with my sword. The dragon held its breath; it seemed that he had understood the words of the brave intruder. But then an even more powerful flame emerged from his mouth. Fortunately, the shield withstood the counterattack.
“It is not my intention to attack you,” the knight insisted, “but I must free the princess from her dark prison.” At that moment, a warm and powerful voice was heard demanding the presence of the knight from somewhere: “Alonso, it’s time to go to sleep.” The fierce dragon vanished, also the armor and the imposing castle. Alonso gave up reading the thick book of medieval knights. He was back in his room. Although disappointed to return to his reality, he kept thinking about the adventure and the desire to complete his rescue mission.
He ran throughout his house in search of various objects with which to make a solid armor. It took him a short time to prepare his particular outfit and, as soon as it was ready, to his parents he announced:
“I’m a hero, I’m a knight! Fighting battles for the world from today is what I want!” “Alonso, what happened to you?” His father asked in alarm. Why have you tied the lids of the pots to your body? “What you see, sir, my solid robe,” replied the little one, “is my splendid and shining armor! And here is my valiant spear and my trusty sword, a gift from a dazzling fairy.” Alonso’s father took his head. “Are those your weapons? Will you face the terrifying dragon like this? With a rag and a simple plunger?” To which the boy replied, “I carry a famous sword, and a sharp spear by an ancient wizard.” His dad insisted that he better watch television. “I prefer to undertake the adventure of reading,” answered the little boy, “and in the pages of books to meet princesses.” His mother looked at the time and reminded Alonso that he should brush his teeth.

“Dear lady, my only true mission,” said little Alonso, “to which I have sworn total devotion, is to save the humble and helpless villagers in distant lost territories.”
But his mother insisted, because the next day a long day of school awaited the little one and he had to regain his energy.
“My new school, my new apprenticeship, is adventure,” the boy declared. my current friends: my sword and my armor.
“Let’s go to sleep now, Alonso, we’re tired,” her father invited, “I don’t even understand why we’re rhyming.”
—That’s the way it should be, my father, in old Castilian Spanish, the language of my Cid.
His father smiled when he recognized that his son had made a mistake in pronouncing the name of the famous literary hero.
“That’s how they also called the Cid Campeador, the best fighter of all in battle,” Alonso clarified; That’s what they called him, that’s what they cheered for him; in old Castilian the inverted words were thus pronounced.
As Alonso removed his makeshift armor, Rocinante, the family’s distracted dog, entered the room, busy smashing a shoe.
“Behold my noble valiant steed,” said the boy, “he looks lean, just like me, but he is actually a very powerful colt.”
“You are skinny, Alonso,” his mother sighed. you must eat better. Although I adore you that way.

His mother insisted that it was time for the whole family, reading a story, to go to rest. Alonso asked to continue with his book, while his father wanted a horror story. In the end, Mom decided for everyone and chose a story about a girl who found a portal that communicated with a world similar to her own.
Alonso listened attentively to the reading of the new book. While his eyes were closing, he could not stop imagining the adventures that awaited him the next day, when he began his journey through the world, turned into a powerful knight-errant:
“What a wonder it would be to stay there forever, in those lands of fighting and dragons, facing hateful scoundrels. Live forever in the kingdoms of majestic books, in heroic battles against monstrous beings. It would be great never to escape the paper worlds; only in those magical territories to ride and that its pages become our true place ”.
