New astronauts wanted

bandera-nasa "Apply to explore with us. Fly with NASA, where the sky is not the limit." This is how the campaign that the agency has launched through the Internet and YouTube to recruit new astronauts is announced. The requirements: be American, have a bachelor's degree in engineering or science, and more than three years of work experience.

Until January 27, applicants will be able to aspire, via the Internet, to the selection process for new astronauts. Those chosen will work on the International Space Station and collaborate in the construction of a new space vehicle, the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MCPV), with which the Americans intend to fly to Mars. Prior to their first missions in space, new astronauts will undergo a training period of a minimum of two years.

"Adventure. Commitment. Leadership. Achievements". All this, together with a salary that ranges between 64,724 and 141,715 dollars per year is what NASA offers to applicants. The evaluation process will last throughout the year, since the pre-selected will undergo different interviews and medical tests. The names of the finalists will be announced in October 2012.
