New corona rules in Bavaria – Söder's minister announces the plan

Markus Söder announced relaxation of the corona rules. This was implemented as planned on Tuesday – and then some. All news in the ticker.

  • The new Corona rules apply from Wednesday, February 9th (update from February 9th, 6:27 a.m.).
  • More and more students are suffering from the Corona situation. This was the result of a recent survey of teachers (updated February 9, 1:39 p.m.).
  • This news ticker is updated regularly.

Update from February 9, 1:39 p.m .: A recent survey paints a frightening picture of the mental state of children and young people in the corona pandemic. According to this, Bavarian high school teachers say that almost every one of their classes has students who need psychosocial support in coping with the corona pandemic. In around two thirds of the classes, one to three students need help, in just over every fifth there are up to six, according to a survey published on Wednesday by the Bavarian Association of Philologists among 1800 members.

In seven percent of all classes, more than six children or young people need help. “We don’t come to solving the problems of the students – be they psychosocial or cognitive,” summarized Regina Knape, school psychologist in Coburg. “The school is still in a state of crisis.”

“According to the teachers’ assessment, the situation has by no means improved,” said Michael Schwägerl, chairman of the association of philologists. “Compared to the last school year, 63 percent see a deterioration in terms of the psychosocial problems of the students.”

According to the Gilching counseling teacher Michael Lilla, this is also due to the fact that in the survey last year, many emergencies, including self-harm or suicidal thoughts, went unnoticed due to the distance learning. The solution – the teachers agreed – was primarily more hours for school psychologists and counselors, preferably in the amount of one teaching position per school.

Corona loosening comes into force today

Update from February 9, 6:27 a.m .: As of today, there is no longer a curfew in the catering trade, 3G applies to hairdressers instead of 2G and more spectators are allowed for sports and culture. All new Corona rules for Bavaria can be found in our overview. The state government justified the relief with the stable situation in the clinics.

Meanwhile, the incidence in the Free State continues to rise. On Wednesday, the RKI reports a value of 1840.4 (previous day: 1819.1). The district of Fürstenfeldbruck (3553.5) remains the national leader. The district of Eichstätt has the second highest incidence in all of Germany at 3506.8.

These are the other corona hotspots in Bavaria:

  • District of Weiheim-Schongau: 2472.6
  • District of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen: 2436.3
  • City of Würzburg: 2411.9
  • District of Erlangen-Höchstadt: 2404.7
  • City of Munich: 2385.9

New corona rules in Bavaria are coming from today – Söder’s minister announces the plan

Update from February 8th, 2:02 p.m .: No more curfew in gastronomy, 3G instead of 2G at hairdressers and more visitors for sports and culture: The Bavarian cabinet announced the Prime Minister Markus Söder on Monday and decided on a few more corona relaxations. The relief should apply from this Wednesday (February 9th).

No curfew and more spectators for sport and culture: Bavaria’s new corona rules

  • The curfew in the catering trade is canceled without replacement
  • Sporting events: spectator occupancy of 50 percent allowed, including standing room; Upper limit of 15,000 people (2G Plus and FFP2 mask requirements apply)
  • Cultural events: Utilization of up to 75 percent possible (2G Plus and FFP2 mask obligation apply)

In both areas (sport/culture), the previous distinction between regional and national events no longer applies. A minimum distance of 1.50 meters is recommended everywhere, but is not mandatory.

New corona rules also for trade fairs, cable cars and body-related services

  • Trade fairs: The upper limit for visitors is increased from 12,500 to 25,000 people
  • Cable cars: Occupancy up to 75 percent allowed
  • Body-related services (e.g. hairdressers or nail salons): 3G applies instead of 2G
  • Pools, thermal baths and saunas: 2G applies instead of 2G Plus

Bavaria tightens testing requirements in daycare groups after the Corona outbreak

There is also an adjustment for daycare centers: After a corona infection in a daycare group, all other children are subject to daily self-testing on the five subsequent days of care. This will significantly tighten test management in child day care and bring it into line with the rules in schools. Parents should receive additional authorization certificates for this, with which they can obtain free quick tests for home use in pharmacies.

New corona rules in Bavaria will come from tomorrow – Söder’s minister announces the plan

1.35 p.m .: Isn’t it problematic for acceptance if Bavaria does not comply with the partial vaccination requirement? “We think the institution-related vaccination requirement* is correct,” Herrmann clarifies when asked. But: in the package from the federal government it was planned to implement the partial vaccination requirement and then to follow suit with the general one. But that has now “fallen apart”. He reports on possible problems with implementation, for example reports to the already overburdened health authorities. According to Herrmann, one fears a “chaos of the extra class.” Therefore one does not want to make this mistake with one’s eyes open, he justifies the decision.

Infestation of schools? “A tremendous and malicious insinuation”

1:23 p.m .: Now Michael Piazolo speaks. As he emphasizes, the PCR pool tests are still the only federal state to be evaluated. The high number of infections is of course also noticeable in school. The accusation that contagion would be allowed in schools is “a huge and malicious insinuation”. Why are these measures being taken, he asks himself. The answer. Protection. Everything is done to ensure that the students do not get infected at school.

After Söder’s announcement: Herrmann explains Bayer’s new corona rules – they will apply from tomorrow

1:14 p.m .: Now to the measures: The regulation was extended until February 23, the changes will come into force tomorrow. The curfew is lifted. So far, 2G has applied to services close to the body, in the future it will be 3G. At events, there are no longer any distinctions between regional and national. In sports, a capacity utilization of up to 50 percent is possible. For culture and cinema, the capacity will be increased from 50 to 75 percent. Distance is no longer the decisive point. The upper limit is 15,000, for example in the Allianz Arena. Previously, only 10,000 people were allowed, standing room is allowed. It stays with 2G plus, FFP2 mask requirement and alcohol ban.

A 75 percent capacity utilization is permitted for cable cars. The 2G rule will apply to pools, thermal baths and saunas in the future. The hotspot rule remains suspended, but remains in place, according to Herrmann. In daycare centers, the following will apply in the future: If there is a case of infection in a group, the group will have to test themselves at home for five days from the next day. The Bavarian vaccination centers will definitely continue to operate until December 31, he announces.

Novavax from February 28th – Herrmann hands out against Lauterbach and the traffic light

1:08 p.m .: Novavax will be available from February 28, reports Herrmann. This vaccine will initially go to healthcare workers. Regarding facility-related vaccination requirements, he says: You need a longer implementation period. A direct implementation would “lead to chaos.” It was thought to be tiered: first the partial vaccination requirement, then the general one in a timely manner. The federal government would remain guilty of this so far. With the implementation of the facility-related vaccination requirement, there is a risk “that we are endangering the staff situation” and ultimately also the patients, Herrmann continues. The CSU politician believes that the federal government’s requirement is “unsuitable for practical use”. According to the Federal Minister of Health, Lauterbach was racing at 180 km/h into dense banks of fog. “We are for general vaccination,” Herrmann clarifies. The federal government promised partial and general vaccination, but only delivered one – and in a “catastrophic technical form”.

After Söder’s announcement of relaxation: press conference with Head of State Herrmann

1 p.m.: The press conference starts on time. Florian Herrmann has the floor. The situation continues to give reason for caution, but the health system is currently not threatened with overload. The head of the state chancellery reports that the incidence is currently high. 94 of 96 counties and urban districts are above the value of 1000. The R value has fallen compared to the previous week.

Update from February 8, 12 noon: After the meeting of the Bavarian cabinet, which focuses on the relaxation of the corona rules announced by Markus Söder, there will be a press conference. You can follow them here at 1 p.m. in the live stream and ticker.

Söder relaxes Bavaria’s corona rules – date not yet known

Update from February 8, 10:32 a.m .: Markus Söder announced relaxation of the corona rules in Bavaria on Monday. The corresponding resolutions are to be passed in the cabinet on Tuesday. There will be a press conference at 1 p.m. Head of the State Chancellery Florian Herrmann, Digital Minister Judith Gerlach and Minister of Education Michael Piazolo will be there. Then it should also be clear when the new rules will come into force.

Söder relaxes Bavaria’s corona rules – despite high incidences

Update from February 8, 8:23 a.m .: The corona rules are relaxed in Bavaria – despite the high number of infections. Markus Söder (CSU) had already announced this on Monday (see first report). The incidence in Bavaria was 1819.1 on Tuesday (previous day: 1786.0).

Germany’s hotspot remains the district of Fürstenfeldbruck (4031.3). The district of Eichstätt (3123.9) and the city of Ingolstadt (2491.4) follow in second and third place. In Munich the value is 2206.2. The day before, the RKI had reported a value of 2392.6 for the state capital.

The health authorities reported 28,285 new corona infections and 29 deaths in Bavaria to the RKI within 24 hours. This emerges from figures that reflect the status of the RKI data on its website at 7.20 a.m. However, the figures are only of limited significance. Experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. Test capacities and health authorities are at the limit in many places, contacts are only traced to a limited extent.

In addition, the planned prioritization of PCR tests is likely to increase the number of people who no longer have their infection confirmed in this way – and who are therefore not included in the official statistics.

After vaccination hammer and corona loosening in Bavaria: Söder justifies himself

First report from February 8, 7.17 a.m .: Munich – no curfew in the catering trade, 3G at hairdressers and more visitors for sporting and cultural events: Bavaria wants to further reduce the requirements for combating the pandemic.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU *) announced the easing on Monday, now the Bavarian cabinet has to make the relevant decisions on Tuesday (10 a.m.). There will be a press conference at 1 p.m.

Corona in Bavaria: Söder announced these easing on Monday

  • The curfew (previously 10 p.m.) in the catering trade should fall
  • Sporting events: spectator capacity up to 50 percent allowed (instead of 25 percent); there is an upper limit of 15,000 (instead of 10,000 as before); 2G Plus and an FFP2 mask requirement apply
  • Cultural events: occupancy of up to 75 percent possible (currently 50 percent); 2G Plus applies and an FFP2 mask requirement*
  • Body-related services (e.g. hairdressers and nail salons): 3G applies (currently still 2G)

Söder announces Corona hammer in Bavaria: No vaccination for the time being

Meanwhile, Söder’s announcement that he did not want to implement the facility-related vaccination requirement from March 15th caused a stir. One hears the concern that this is exactly what will lead to an overload of the health system. Namely when all the staff who have not yet been vaccinated fail. “I am in favor of compulsory vaccination,” Söder clarified, but this singular duty is not a solution to the Omicron crisis. Instead, there will be “the most generous transitional regulations”, which “de facto initially amounts to a suspension of enforcement,” he said on Monday.

Bavaria loosens corona rules – Söder justifies action

With the announced easing, Bavaria is going beyond the previous agreements between the federal and state governments. When asked on Monday, Söder justified this with the relatively low utilization of the clinics – despite record incidences * – and here in particular the intensive care units with Covid patients. The next round of federal-state consultations is planned for next week.

The CSU boss also said on Twitter: “We need pragmatism instead of ideology when it comes to the corona rules. There is currently no risk of the healthcare system being overloaded. That’s why gradual openings make sense.”

Corona incidence in Bavaria continues to rise

The incidence in Free State is now 1819.1 (previous day: 1786.0). Germany’s hotspot remains the district of Fürstenfeldbruck (4031.3). The district of Eichstätt (3123.9) and the city of Ingolstadt (2491.4) follow in second and third place. In Munich the value is 2206.2. (came)
